The ingredients corresponds to all the main characteristics of the fixed star referred to in the old magical books (sympathetic magic and natural magic have been applied during this process).

Harvested at the appropriate planetary day and hour for maximum effectiveness. Dried under the most suitable conditions, ground, and consecrated on the chosen day and hour.

The conditions of this chart are very specific.

 

One of the most fundamental medieval and Renaissance books informs us about the positions and significations of the fixed stars. In De Quindecim Stellis: The Comprehensive Translations of Hermes on the Fifteen Fixed Stars, translated by Regulus Hess, we read the following:

 

“The fifteenth star is Cauda Capricorni;[102] for it is of the nature of Saturn and Mercury, and it is nigh unto the zodiac from the region of the south. This star is greatly unfortunate when it is in conjunction with the Sun; if it be beheld thereby with a square or opposition at the time of nativity, it indicateth corruption and harm. In magic, however, this star is counted according to the misfortune of its lords, Saturn and Mercury, so long as they should behold it while they are retrograde or combust; for at that time, understand thou, its significations are destroyed.”

 

 

Therefore, my electional chart places Saturn and Mercury in positions averse (having NO aspect) to the star, which brings forth its most favorable characteristics.

In the electional chart, the Moon is conjunct Deneb Algedi, while the benefics Jupiter and Venus form the most positive astrological aspect—a trine—to it and the nocturnal luminary, respectively, from the other two air signs, Gemini and Libra.

The Moon is waxing and swift, ensuring a fast and effective outcome for the magical talismans/materia.

The Ascendant degree is in Gemini, precisely conjunct a direct Jupiter. Mercury, the ruler of the Ascendant, is angular in the 4th house, exalted, in domicile in Virgo—strong and stable in the house, ruling the invisible foundation, home, residence, birthplace, family, ancestry, and homeland, basics, roots. 

The day is ruled by the Sun, and the hour is ruled by Venus.

 

In "De Quindecim Stellis" we also read:

“The fifteenth stone is Chalcedony, whose color is in the middle between Jacinth and Beryl: I speak of the Jacinth which is as it were white. Its virtue to grant favor in causes to him that beareth it. Its star is Cauda Capricorni: when the Moon shall be therewith, thou shalt operate as we have said.”

“The fifteenth herb is called Marjoram, and among the Arabs Mundadux. Put thou a little thereof with Chalcedony, and know that the house in which it shall abide will ever be improved and unharmed. And I found it affirmed likewise in a certain book, that whoso beareth about him Chalcedony with Mugwort, Catnip and Marjoram (and these in his armpit, with a Mandrake-root to guard them), then will his wealth be increased omnimodously. I always recommend meditating with the materia as the first step, as it opens our "eyes" to the right direction for working with it.

 

It is best to do this when the Moon conjoins Deneb Algedi (refer to the previous section to determine when this occurs).

Creating a Small Altar for Connection:

• Use a cloth or paper in the color of chalcedony—ranging from light to dark blue, but not too bright.
• Light a candle in a similar color.
• Place an image of the constellation.
• Include river stones or other elements symbolizing stable foundations.
